Ice forecasts for the Great Lakes issued by Environment Canada at
12:00 P.M. EDT Wednesday 22 April 2026 for today tonight and
Thursday.
The next scheduled forecasts will be issued at 12:00 P.M. Thursday.

Western Lake Superior.
Open water except 2 tenths very thick lake ice in Thunder Bay and
along parts of the northwestern shore. 7 tenths rotten thick lake
ice in Chequamegon Bay and east of Duluth. Consolidated very thick
lake ice in Black Bay and Nipigon Bay and in northeastern Thunder
Bay. 

Eastern Lake Superior.
Open water except 2 tenths thick lake ice along parts of the
southern and eastern shores. 

Whitefish Bay.
1 tenth thick lake ice except 9 tenths thick lake ice in a few
eastern bays. Consolidated rotten thick lake ice in sheltered bays. 

North Channel.
8 tenths thick lake ice. Consolidated rotten thick lake ice along
parts of the shores. 

Northern Lake Huron.
Open water. 

Southern Lake Huron
Lake St. Clair
Lake Erie
Lake Ontario.
Ice free. 

Northern Georgian Bay.
Open water except 2 tenths thick lake ice along parts of the
northeastern shore. Consolidated rotten thick lake ice along parts
of the northeastern shore. 

Southern Georgian Bay.
Open water. 

Northern Lake Michigan.
Open water except 5 tenths thick lake ice in Little Traverse Bay. 

Southern Lake Michigan.
Ice free. 

Green Bay.
Open water except 6 tenths thick lake ice in Bays de Noc.
